AUGUST READING GROUP UPDATE

First off, I have been having a bit of trouble keeping the blog going lately. Renovations on our house, keeping up my yard in the face of relentless heat, and feeling more like reading than blogging. Hats off to bloggers who post every day. I truly don't know how you do it. My goal is three times a week but I have even been falling down on that. So that is why this post is a week late.

Once again I have a light reading group schedule this month and have already read two of the books. This is fortunate for my August reading plan: to read as many books as I can from the 1962 list of My Big Fat Reading Project. I have been having such a great time reading new fiction that I have neglected the project, so I hope to make up for that this month.

Here is what my reading groups are reading and discussing this month.

If you belong to one or more reading groups, what are you reading this month?

  1. I know what you mean about blogging often. I started the blog with three posts per week, then went to two, then one, now I just blog when I finish a book or have something to say about one or more movies.

    1. Thanks for understanding. I guess I am my own boss on the blog after all, so why feel guilty. I always like your posts and I thank you for your loyal support and comments here. BTW, I finished The Kill Artist last night!

  2. I'm going to be reading Close to Hugh by Canadian author Marina Endicott later this month, in preparation for the September meeting of my reading group. I have no idea how you juggle so many!

    1. Thanks Debbie. I don't know how I do either, except I participate heavily in the choosing of the books, so they are usually ones I want to read anyway and I love all the members of the groups. Most of them have been meeting for years. I guess you could say it is my social life because all I do is stay home and read.

  3. I greatly enjoyed the Hawley and Ferrante books and hope you do, too. Haven't read the others. Have a great reading month.

    1. Yes, Before the Fall was fun to read. I have already read the first three Ferrante books so maybe I will get to the final volume by the time that group meets.

  5. Hi Judy, give yourself a break a bit on the blogging; it's summer after all and you do a lot already. I'm struggling a bit with posting once a week -- as the house, & the yard, & the dog, & the life get in the way, ha! Anyways, I look forward to your review of these. BTW, I assigned The Sympathizer for my book club to read & discuss in Sept. I better get cracking on it! cheers.

  6. You really should not feel guilty dear Judy. This is a hobby nothing more :)
I publish two or three posts per week, and when I'm travelling I never ever blog.. the most important is to have fun and exchange what we feel like, when we want.
I look forward to your reviews of these :))
