  1. I'll be interested to read your thoughts on The Sense of an Ending. I read and reviewed it in 2012 and I loved it.

    1. Good to know! I have read so many mixed reviews. It will be my first Julian Barnes. And I certainly want to read it before I see the movie.

  2. Looking forward to your review of Daughter of Fortune since I have it in my TBR list. Do you know it has a second part? I think Portrait in Sepia continues the story.

    1. I have read both of those novels and loved them. Unfortunately I read them back in 2000 and 2002, before I was blogging and I don't plan to reread at this time. So there will not be a review. But they are great historical fiction featuring the same woman and her story of breaking free of oppression and finding her abilities. You will love them too! I used to read each of her novels as they came out and I still do. You can find the ones I have reviewed here by searching Isabel Allende on the blog.

    2. Actually, Daughter of Fortune is part of a trilogy, Portrait in Sepia tells the story of the other side of the family, The House of the Spirits brings them all together.

They are all great reads that I can highly recommend.

    1. It is a beautiful book. I read it back in 2000 so will not do review at this time but I highly recommend it.

  4. Hi Judy,
thank you for visiting my blog. Your book club reads sound all very interesting.

As I mentioned on my page, so far, I have only read Daughter of Fortune by Isabel Allende and one book by Patrick Modiano (La Place de l'Étoile) and have a book by Hamid Mohsin on my TBR pile but I'm sure they are all great reads.

    Happy Reading,
    Marianne

  5. Not currently reading anything for my church's book club as we're on a break, due to the vicar and his wife just having a baby :-)

  6. Yeah I read & reviewed the Barnes one recently & the movie. I will refrain from saying more till you finish it. You probably liked Exit West a bit more than I did but still worthy. Enjoy your discussions and I hope the Babes will get to see the movie of it too.

    1. I will revisit your reviews when I finish the book. Yes, I bet the Babes will have another movie party! Exit West really impressed me and our discussion at Laura's Group was great.
