15 YEARS OF KEEP THE WISDOM

Seeing as how I have a hard time knowing what day it is lately and have apparently lost my ability to read a calendar, I completely forgot that July 1st was the 15th Blogiversary of Keep The Wisdom. My first post was on July 1, 2005!

I have had my ups and downs as a blogger including the first few months of 2020 when I just wanted to quit but of course was too conflicted to do so. You probably noticed that it got pretty quiet around here. I used those months to work on my writing and to read some big, long books I had been putting off. Then the pandemic hit. I was too distracted at first to write and I missed people!

Thanks for putting up with my drama. Thanks for sticking with me. If you are new to the blog, thanks a ton for joining the conversation. Your visits and comments make me happy. I love being in a community of bloggers from all over the world and sharing our thoughts about the books we read.

I will keep going, at least for a while yet. Some of you have noticed I've been posting more reviews (thank you for noticing!) and I will keep that up. I might not review every book I read but when I love a book I want to share it with others who love reading. If you see a book in my monthly Books Read post but don't see a review, it is either because I don't have much to say about it or it is something I read just for me personally.

Here's to a better future coming soon!

  1. I think many bloggers at some point have doubts about whether they wish to continue doing it, and some take a break for a while and come back to it. Like many things in life the repetitiveness of an activity, and the demands of creating a post, can lead to the desire for a respite, but we are all glad that you persevered. The wide range of opinions and topics covered by bloggers is an important part of life in the 21st Century. We need thoughtful bloggers more than we ever did.

    1. Hello, David. So lovely of you to stop by and share your encouragement. I have seen your comments on Dorothy Borders's blog but failed to follow through and find your blog. Now I have and am following you. You are always welcome here.

  2. Happy blogiversary to you!! 15 years of blogging is really awesome.

I am so thrilled to have discovered your book blog as you write excellent book reviews and read a lot of really interesting books. In fact, my reading wishlist has grown as I've added many titles you've read to my reading wishlist. Additionally, I'm thrilled you didn't quit writing blog posts!

  3. 15 years is a very long time... congratulations on that! having only done it for a couple of years, i nevertheless see the appeal of having contacts all over the globe: it's kind of addictive, even for old fogies...

    1. It is a very long time. It took me years to build up some followers and nab some comments. I had no idea I was made of such strong persistence. The only thing else I have done for 15+ years is stay married to my exceedingly cool husband. But you are right: having contacts all over the globe is a good feeling.

  7. Congratulations on 15 years, Judy! I'm glad you decided to keep the blog going. Times are uncertain now, in-person socializing is practically nonexistent, so reading, blogging, and the blogging community seem even more important.

  8. Thank you, JoAnn! It does seem more important just now.

    1. Yes, we were the early adopters of the new literary blogging scene. And we are still here! I thank you for the encouragement to do more reviews. You are one of my trusted sources for what novels are worth the time.

  10. Congratulations!!!!! 15 years is *quite* an achievement. I think we all go through periods when Blogging is a bit of a slog (not unlike life!) but it definitely has its benefits - like 'meeting' new people in far away places and sharing book ideas/thoughts. Here's to the next 15 years! No pressure.... [grin]

    1. Thank you, CK! Since I plan to keep reading as long as I live, I might as well keep blogging. 2035 sounds like a long time from now, though.

  11. Happy 15 years on the blog! Ahh Judy: you make blogging so worth it ... as do others. It's wonderful that you have your reviews on here from 2005 .... such a great resource to keep. I started mine in 2009. I have thought of stopping a few times recently too ... but we plug on. Happy years ahead to you.

    1. Yes, it's all good! If we didn't have our blogs we would only have Goodreads and that is just not as personal. Happy years ahead to you as well!

I know I have said this before but I am so glad we found one another and that we have so many similar outlooks. 14. Congratulations!! !5 years is an amazing amazing milestone! I love looking back at the initial blogging years and the recent ones and comparing how much I have changed.

Hope you'll be here for more years to come, but completely understand if you have to stop. After all, I did break for 3 years, though I didn't know if it would be that long or if I would be back at all.
