There are so many books!! I can understand the mix up because they both have last names that start with Mc and they are from nearly the same decades. I think The Group is McCarthy's best novel of the ones I have read so far. One of my favorites of hers is a sort of memoir of her young years: http://keepthewisdom.blogspot.com/2010/12/memories-of-catholic-girlhood.html. I also need to read Carson McCullers who is completely different but is another on my list -- and who I mixed her up with for some reason. thecuecardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08870323589682197091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14124551.post-70136784732711563902017-04-26T14:31:21.842-07:002017-04-26T14:31:21.842-07:00I will think about what you say. What we see today as challenges is more the product of a world that is changing at an accelerated pace and we seem to be struggling to keep up.Carmenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10242364668293349799noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14124551.post-56151130178882217622017-04-26T10:38:47.190-07:002017-04-26T10:38:47.190-07:00Yes!!Yes!!Judy Kruegerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11632346091869688862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14124551.post-79631905918407710072017-04-26T10:06:25.756-07:002017-04-26T10:06:25.756-07:00Oh, I have to check out the movie! I read this book ...Wow, this brought back memories! I read this book long, long ago, sometime in the '60s and I saw the movie based on it. Reading your review and thinking back, it does, indeed, seem almost like a historical novel now. And yet, the issues faced by the women in the novel are still being face by women today. In that sense, it is current. Does anything ever really change? Dorothy Bordershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12441731296027227394noreply@blogger.com
