October was another adventurous and excellent reading month for me.
Stats: 11 books read. 6 by women. 3 speculative fiction. 2 translated. AND 1 play by Shakespeare no less.
Favorites: I loved them all in different ways though reading Shakespeare is always a challenge for me.
Reviews to come on the last four books.
What good books did you read in October?
I too find Shakespeare challenging, but English is not my primary language.
ReplyDeleteYours is Spanish right? But anyway Shakespeare's English is not the English of today by a big stretch. When I read his plays I use a version with lots of footnotes and have one of those plot summaries right at hand.
DeleteI know, that's why I have his Complete Works on Kindle and haven't even begin to tackle them. I need a class to understand all that talk.
DeleteThat's a diverse bit of reading that you did in October! I've been trying to work my way through Shakespeare again, but progress is slow.
ReplyDeleteYes, I like to mix it up!
DeleteYou were on a reading roll in October and I suspect you will be for November too b/c of the cooler temps?! How good did you think the Kraken Wakes was? I might get that at the library for my husband -- he's pretty apocalyptic. thx
ReplyDeleteI thought The Kraken Wakes was quite good. The writing was accomplished and the story suspenseful. I am sure that many of my favorite speculative writers must have read him. It was almost like reading a modern story.
