BOOKS READ IN DECEMBER

I tried hard to read 11 books in December but was defeated at the end by my reread of Cloud Atlas. I still have 189 pages to go this morning, though I am taking my time and liking it more this time. Every year in the last week of December I try to do a readathon of books by one author. This year I chose David Mitchell and though I started a week early, I still only got through 2.5 of his books. But I have become a total fan and plan to get through the rest of his books in 2016.

Stats: 10 books read. 7 written by women. 10 fiction. 1 translated. 1 reread.
Favorites: The Japanese Lover, Wingshooters, Not Dark Yet, and Track of the Cat, Ghostwritten.

And so it goes. Onto 2016 and more reading adventures.
My Top 25 Books Read in 2015 post is coming tomorrow.
Happy New Year to all my wonderful followers!!

    1. Thanks Carmen! You will get the Mitchell reviews when I get through all this end/beginning of a new month and year stuff. And I am looking forward to finding out what that long book you read is and what you thought of Madame Bovary-:)

    2. My book review may be politically controversial.

  2. I haven't tried Mitchell yet; I think I've been scared off b/c his books seem like mind-benders. But I might like his Slade House, which I heard is more accessible. fyi -- We rented the movie "Fail-Safe" last night and it seemed pretty good. Henry Fonda is calm under pressure as the president and Larry Hagman is good as the young translator. Walter Matthau plays the crazy professor that needs to be stifled. What a chilling ending!

    1. Well, Mitchell is definitely not easy, pleasure reading, though once I got what he was doing I have experienced extreme pleasure. But he makes you work for it, at least for me he does. And I can't read him quickly though I am normally a fast reader. Too much to glean and then think about. Wow, you beat me to the Fail-Safe movie. Our queue is ridiculous and we both only have time for about 2 movies a week. I am looking forward to seeing it. Yes, the ending. So chilling in the book.

  3. You had an interesting month of reading. I'm glad you liked Track of the Cat. Nevada Barr is a long-time favorite of mine and that book is one of hers that I particularly like.

    1. I have been meaning to read Nevada Barr for so long. She is great! The attraction for me was that her mysteries are set in National Parks. Her writing about the natural world is so good but Anna Pigeon is equally great!
