OCTOBER READING GROUP UPDATE

Another good line-up of books for October. I know many of you, my faithful blog readers, are not in favor of reading groups and I understand your reasons. I am happy to say that I still enjoy all my groups and we keep picking great reads and having the most interesting discussions. I guess I am lucky. It is all about the members and about mostly everyone finishing the book. Also it has been great to see us all grow as readers and in our ability to have good discussions.

Here are this month's picks:

Laura's Group:

Shop Indie Bookstores

Molly's Group:

Bookie Babes:

Shop Indie Bookstores

One Book at a Time:

Shop Indie Bookstores

If you are in a reading group, what are you reading and discussing in October?

  1. I'm not in any reading group, but I started reading last night The Dogs of War by Frederick Forsyth since October seems to be a good month for thrillers, though for me, any month is great for a good thriller.

    1. I can't wait to hear about it. I looked it up and it was published in 1974, so not a recent one but the theme of it sounds timely anyway.

  2. You have some great titles here this month, Judy. My only reading group is on hiatus this month while our moderator is on a month-long trip to her native Poland.

    1. Yes Debbie, I am looking forward to the meetings. I just finished The Underground Railroad and it was excellent. So you have a month to read whatever you want!

  4. I salute you for participating in reading groups. It's not really my thing, but then I don't have access to the kind of enlightened reader groups in which you participate. Maybe I should start my own!

    1. Yes Dorothy you should! You pick the readers and make the rules. I am happy to help if you want any advice. Believe me, I have seen it all-:)

  5. Oh looks like good books! I liked Station Eleven and Eligible! Hope to like Whitehead's book if you did. Will get to it. Apparently we're to read "The Perfect Girl" by Gilly Macmillan for my book group's discussion on Oct. 25. I don't know anything about it yet; need to get a copy soon.

    1. I am quite sure you will like The Underground Railroad. I looked up The Perfect Girl. It has widely divergent reviews on Goodreads, but sounds intriguing to me. I will watch for your review.
