JANUARY READING GROUP UPDATE

I did not post a reading group update in December because mostly my reading groups just partied, voted on our favorite reading group book for the year, and did a book exchange. It was fun!

But now it is a New Year and we are all hunkering down to read and discuss. It is a good variety. The Wreath is by an Nobel Prize Winner. Believe it or not, I have never read Dune and I am excited! Miss Burma was on my list of books I wanted to read last year. The Fifth Season was one of my Top 25 Books of 2017 and I convinced The Bookie Babes to try it, though not many of them have ever read fantasy. I hope they don't hate it.

Tomorrow I will return to reviews of books I read in December.

  2. I read all three of the Kristin Lavransdatter books a few years ago, so I'll be interested to know what you think of The Wreath. I hope your group enjoys The Fifth Season!

    1. I finished The Wreath the other day. We will discuss on Wednesday. I have conflicting feelings about it so a discussion will help me write my review. I will report on the next reading group update how it went with The Fifth Season!

    1. I too wonder how I will find Dune. I started it today and from what I have read, everyone is confused at the beginning. I can deal with that.

  6. I'd like to read Miss Burma too! I have read Dune but it was long ago -- I found it quite visual. All I recall is the giant sandworms, oh my! The Sidgrid Undset books are a favorite of a Swedish friend I have but I haven't gotten to them yet. Enjoy your reads.

    1. Miss Burma is good! It reminds me a bit of Pachinko. Trying to penetrate the world of Dune now. I haven't gotten to the famous worms yet.

    1. Thanks Diane. I always want to know what other groups are reading. I will start a new feature in my Reading Group Update in February: a recap of how the discussions of the previous month went. Stay tuned for that!
