DECEMBER READING GROUP UPDATE

I almost forgot to post the reading group update this month. It is a bit thin as only three of my groups are discussing books in December.

Tina's Group:

One Book At A Time:

The Bookie Babes:
We are having a party at a restaurant, voting on our favorite book discussed in 2019, and exchanging books in anonymous packages. We gave up reading a book in December because so many would not get it read.
The One Book At A Time party last year!

Do you have a reading group meeting this month? Have you discussed any of these books?

I wonder how The Testaments discussion will go. I have seen many conflicting reactions to it around the blogosphere. I loved it.

  1. that looks like a lot of fun!! i don't live close to any known blogger, unfortunately, so... amazing how Dracula remains so popular for so long.. i'll have to read it some time, i guess... i've read other books by Stoker and liked them, so D should be readable anyway...

  2. Interesting books. I have not read The Testaments yet. I think that I want to reread The Handmaid’s Tale first.

I see that Dracula is on your list. I loved that book.

    1. If you have not read Handmaid's Tale in a while, I definitely suggest rereading it first. Yes, Dracula was very good and everyone in the reading group liked it!

  4. I haven't read The Testaments yet, but I've seen lots of different opinions of it so I'm sure you'll have an interesting discussion. Enjoy your party!

  5. I have about 50 pages left in The Testaments and I'm liking it. It's suspenseful ... and perhaps faster than the original .... I like how the 3 characters' accounts come together towards the end. I'm assuming they will be able to bring down Gilead once & for all (!) but I will wait to see. Enjoy your groups!

    1. Oh yeah, she did a good job, made it almost a thriller. No spoilers, but you will know soon how it ends.

  7. I'm curious about Dracula! So much fun that you're in a Reading Group. I'd love to do something like that at school with the kids :)

    1. I don't mean to sound pompous but I think any relatively young reader who likes vampire lit should read Dracula. The book that I would say started the genre.
I moderated a YA reading group at the bookstore where I used to work. It was eye-opening and fun! I bet it would be even more fun with grade school kids!

    2. It's not pompous at all Judy! Absolutely any young reader into vamps MUST read Dracula! (and ignore sparkly vampires, but that is a whole different topic...)
