OCTOBER READING GROUP UPDATE

Yes, my reading groups are still meeting on Zoom. We may be doing so for a while yet. It is still better than no reading group meetings at all. As you will see, in this month of impending doom and desperate hope for better days ahead, the books this month are all in some way political.

One Book At A Time:

Carol's Group:

Bookie Babes:

Have you read or discussed any of these books? What are your reading groups discussing this month? If you were in a reading group what books would you want to discuss?

  1. I have read The Sympathizer ... and it was with my former book group. It was not a fast read ... but it was good. I'm interested to see about his new novel (The Committed) due out March 2021 - woohoo. I'm interested to know if Fifty Words for Rain is good ... so let us know. thanks. Enjoy your groups!

    1. I read The Sympathizer back when it was fairly new and was impressed. So I am looking forward to a reread and to his new book. I will let the blog world know what I think of Fifty Words for Rain. I hope it is as good as it sounds.

  5. All of these are new to me; they sound interesting Judy. Our group is reading Two-Family House; Lydia Cohen Loigman. I read it when it was first released and liked it a lot so don't mind revisiting it.

  6. Reading is no doubt a pleasant diversion when set against the madness of your president.

  8. I read The Sympathizer in 2017 because it received the Pulitzer Prize (I always try to read the Pulitzer Prize winner of the year).

    Great book. Enjoy!

  9. My church's book club is still doing Zoom meetings, too - Our current read is The Bible Jesus Read by Philip Yancey, which I finished last week, so I am all set early for our next meeting. Happy reading and meeting you and your groups, Judy. 🙂

  10. I've only recently heard of Fifty Words for Rain and I definitely want to read it. Looking forward to what you think. Three of my neighbors and I started a backyard book club just a few months ago, mainly due to the pandemic and limited social activities. We've been meeting in person, socially distanced. But after our next week's book, I'm not sure if we will meet again since it's getting colder outside. We may have to try Zoom!

    1. I wish it would get colder here, or at least cooler. In fact, it might be too hot to meet outside. Zoom is really easy to use.

    1. I am completely ashamed to say that I had not even heard of her. That's the beauty of reading groups!
