Despite everything, I managed to do plenty of reading in March. Spring finally arrived with swathes of green, blooms, birds and butterflies. I visited 5 countries, 5 different states in America, and met 8 new authors.
Stats: 12 books read. 9 fiction. 8 written by women. 2 biography/memoir. 3 translated. 1 poetry. 1 YA.
Places I went: Ireland, France, Russia, Philippines, Great Britain. In the US, cities of Seattle and Boston, states of CA, NE and NJ
An incredible 8 authors new to me: Thomas Kohnstamm, Annie Ernaux, Tamirat Nafkote, Marguerite Duras, Anna Burns, Marina Tsvetaeva, Elaine Costillo, Rick Ferguson.
Not a bad book in the bunch but my favorites were The Witch Elm and Milkman.
How was your reading in March? Favorites?
You did a lot of reading this month. A month with Harry Potter in it, is always a good month!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, Esther. How did you come to my blog? I have another blogger friend in the Netherlands. I will visit you today and leave a comment.
DeleteHi Judy, I think by just visiting other people's blogs and maybe you commented there? I spend a lot of time trying to find nice bookblogs to follow :)
DeleteHooray! You finished some awesome books and seem to be making great progress on your reading goals.
ReplyDeleteI did and I am! Thanks, Lisa.
DeleteThat looks like another good month of reading, especially with so many new authors! I like your idea of breaking down your US reading by state.
ReplyDeleteI know, so many new authors. I have been reading quite a few debut novels this year. The US is so big that when a novel is set in a specific state it actually makes a difference.
DeleteAs always, and despite getting sick, you managed to read considerably this month as well. I look forward to the remaining reviews.
ReplyDeleteYes, I did! In fact it was reading that kept me going plus I couldn't really do anything else. Now to write all those reviews, OMG.
DeleteI am in awe of the number of books that you have read. The books all look good too. I also cannot believe thaf it is April already. Hopefully the spring will be a good reading time for us all.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brian. A couple years ago I recognized that reading is my super power. Apparently even this bout of flu could not stop me. Here is to spring being a good reading time for us all.
DeleteNice!! I have only read The Years. So glad you discovered Duras. I like her style, but have not read this one
ReplyDeleteI am glad about starting to read Duras too.
DeleteYou did a lot of good reading. I would like to read "The Years"
ReplyDeleteAnita, it is so good to see you here! I check your blog now and then and revel in your wonderful photography. I think you will love The Years.
DeleteYou had a good reading month as usual. Those Taylor Branch books are good. I finished the first King one once but should revisit it. I like the Springsteen cover of Rick Ferguson's book. I haven't heard of that novel, so you'll have to enlighten us.
ReplyDeleteReviews are coming. I wrote the MLK one today, will post tomorrow. Yes, that cover plus I grew up in NJ. It is kind of a wild first novel but I liked it.
DeleteOh, wow, I haven't read any of your March books. Will have to see whether there is something that I'd love to put on my ever growing TBR pile. ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!
Lots to choose from!
DeleteLooks like some amazing reads! I'm very impressed you read so much while being sick!
ReplyDeleteWell, I could hardly breathe, I had no appetite, no energy. But I could read! So I did. Finally I am better. Now I have to clean the house. LOL
DeleteFantastic list!
ReplyDeleteI certainly did enjoy my reading.
DeleteAs always a very impressive month of reading, but even more so with all those new authors you tried too! March was a better month for me as I finished four books, which is double what I finished in previous months this year and which is much more like my normal amount. I particularly enjoyed my re-read of the final Hunger Games book: Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. Happy reading in April!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jessica. I am happy that you had a good month as well. I might reread The Hunger Games someday. But first I need to finish Harry Potter!
